High Falls State Park is in the north end of Monroe County, exit 198 off of I-75. Enjoy hiking trails, the Towaliga river and lake life, mini golf, and there’s plenty of fishing too! Take your boat or kayak, splash around the shoals, and enjoy the playground.  The swimming pool is up the hill! If you enjoy camping or glamping, there are yurts, RV and tent campsites. Kayak and pontoon rentals are also available. How could you NOT make a trip here?

Pope’s Ferry is a hidden gem. It’s the perfect place to launch your paddle craft on the Ocmulgee River. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has created a beautiful atmosphere and opportunity-just for you!  Come sit a while and enjoy the view or play in the water. Bring your floats, tubes, canoes, whatever you have. Seize the time to #relaxrefreshrenew. Take your family on a fishing trip. There’s always plenty to do!

 

 

 

 

 

Rum Creek Wildlife Management Agency is adjacent to Lake Juliette and there are so many beautiful places to enjoy here! Rum Creek also has a MARSH project that protects waterfowl. If you enjoy birdwatching, this is a must see stop!

 

For some fun in town, Forsyth has an awesome Splash Pad. Give it a try. They are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Little ones will enjoy running around on the soft rubber flooring-and you will enjoy the refreshing mist. Bring a picnic, play on the nearby playground, stretch your legs on the walking trail, and enjoy your time together. It is a fantastic way to spend a day!

 

 

The Ocmulgee River boasts the longest continuous water trail in the State of Georgia. It’s a great place to spend a few hours or the whole day! Paddle your way down a while or splash in the shallows. Be on the lookout for alligators around here. I’ve never seen one…but maybe you can find one! You’ll meet plenty of friendly folks on the river.

 

Dames Ferry is an exceptional place to spend a long weekend with your friends or family. Have a paddle board? This is the perfect place to go! Want to kayak for a while? It’s beautiful! Enjoy watching wildlife or fishing? Bring your chair and a pole. This place is perfect!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your visit isn’t complete without stopping by our beautiful and tranquil Juliette Park. It’s located right past downtown Juliette. You can stop by the Whistle Stop Café, pick up some honey from The Honeycomb (make sure you tell Mr. Tommy where you heard about him) and take the kids to the park. There’s no telling how many locals you’ll see paddling or fishing here. It’s a favorite local spot!
