with the Discover Forsyth Passport

There is a fresh new year before us, and we want to encourage you to get out and about and discover some new places to love in Forsyth!

Exploring the city of Forsyth has never been more straightforward or rewarding. We are kicking off 2023 with a year-long initiative to get everyone adventuring in Forsyth!

Our Discover Forsyth Passport takes you to 12 landmarks in and around the city, one spot a month, and the more you take part, the higher your chances are to win big! We want you to snap a photo at each location to upload HERE. You must complete at least six of the 12 to enter the prize drawings, of which there will be four during the year.

Let’s look at a few spots you’ll discover on your Passport journey!

You’ll visit the William Hubbard Complex, where the Hubbard Museum & Cultural Center resides in the remaining historic structure of the State Teacher & Agricultural College, founded by William Hubbard. It is also home to the Telling Our Story: Black History Museum, comprised of over 300 local African American artifacts dating back to the late 1800s.

Pick your favorite restaurant as one of our stops! For example, Grits Cafe, located in one of Forsyth’s oldest storefronts on the Historic Courthouse Square, is one of the yummier spots you can venture to on our list. We can’t help but recommend you stay for their Shrimp and Grits or one of their handmade sandwiches while you’re there.

Make sure to take plenty of pictures at the Monroe County Courthouse, built in 1895. With its grand brick facade and pressed metal ceilings, there are plenty of eye-pleasing shots to take in and around the courthouse.

First things first, though. You will start your Passport adventure at the Rose Theater, also on the Historic Courthouse Square. The theater is home to Forsyth’s Backlot Players, a non-profit community theater that brings quality theater productions, movies and live music to Forsyth. This art-deco theatre brings to mind days gone by and is a regional favorite for entertainment of all types.

Let our Discover Forsyth Passport be a part of your New Year’s resolution to get out and explore and to cash in on some awesome prizes. Our prize baskets will vary but contain various fun merchandise and gift cards for up to $150. So, don’t wait and get started on your first stop this month!
