Have you gotten outside in this warmer weather and stretched your bones toward the sun? It is time to get back outdoors now that winter has gone, and the renewal of spring is here! One of our favorite things about Forsyth is our centralized location for many incredible outdoor adventures, available to anyone of any fitness level.

Using Forsyth as a Basecamp, you can stay here, dine here and then go out and play wherever you desire. We have plenty of yummy restaurants to fuel your excursions and many unique retail spots to ensure you have everything you need during your time here. While you’re out exploring, look for Georgia Grown items in our local shops, such as Bee Buffs Honey at the 1823 Artisan Guild.

As everyone begins to wake from their cold weather slumber, we just wanted to share some ideas for truly embracing the beauty around us. If you wish to commune with nature or experience life on a working farm, there are options aplenty!

High Falls State Park

For any adventure-seeker, High Falls State Park offers a free-for-all in outdoor fun!

Hikers can have their pick of three different trails, ranging in distance and difficulty. Each trail offers an up-close view of local flora and fauna while taking in the fresh air and sounds of the nearby waterfall. If the waterfall is your ultimate destination, you will hop on the Falls View Trail, the most difficult, to get to the gratifying view.

After your hike, stop by the miniature golf course for some competition or rent a kayak and enjoy the 650-acre High Falls Lake. Your party may also become treasure hunters using the Georgia State Parks Geocaching website as your guide or set up camp at the surrounding campsites to extend your time in the park.

Family Farms

Hamlin Hills Farm is a one-stop farm experience. They’re renowned for their southern BBQ. Grab a plate of your favorite saucy meat and sides to enjoy a farm picnic before shopping for local jams, wines, hand-poured candles, and more in the farm shop. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the petting zoo, full of cuties to meet, from goats and horses to pigs and chickens and an adorable emu.

There are fun games and a cow-themed train sure to delight the kids among you. Plenty of snacks and treats are available as the market is stocked with seasonal produce, homemade ice cream, jams, and more.

Local Plants and Produce

The time is right to grab some bulbs to plant for a beautiful spring and summer garden. You won’t have to look far to find locally run nurseries, like Mossy Corner Nursery and Market, full of beautiful blooms and staffed by knowledgeable, friendly faces.
