World Ranger Day
World Ranger Day is celebrated around the world on July 31st each year on the anniversary of the founding of The International Ranger Federation (IRF), an organization that supports the work of rangers as the key protectors of parks and conservation. World Ranger Day will also be a day to remember the many rangers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty while protecting national and state parks.

Citizens Firearms Safety Training Class
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is hosting their Annual Citizens Firearms Safety Training Class on Saturday, May 11, 2024. It begins at 8:00 am at the Monroe County Justice Center. All attendees will be required to submit to a background check which requires two forms of identification. You must be 21 years of age or older and live or work in Monroe County. The course will cover firearm use, proficiency, and safety. There is no cost to attend this training. Attendees are required to provide their own legal handgun, belt, holster, eye and ear safety equipment, along with 100-150 rounds of ammunition. The Deadline for turning in applications is May 3, 2024. Applications can be picked up and turned in at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 145 L. Cary Bittick Drive, Forsyth, GA.

2nd Annual Save-a-Pet Rescue Ride
Ride along with the Monroe County Moose Lodge 2424 to help raise money for the Save-a-Pet Animal Rescue! The ride begins at the Moose Lodge at 10 AM on Saturday June 15th, 2024. There will be lunch, door prizes and live music after the ride.
